A Study On Seasonal Variation Of Metal Accumulation In Soil Samples Of Industrial Area Tirupati Region

Abstract

The physiochemical parameters and heavy metal levels in soil samples at different site of industrial area were investigated during the two major seasons. Soil samples at 0–15cm depth were collected during the period of monsoon and dry seasons. The soil samples were treated and digested using microwave acid digestion methods. The heavy metal concentrations were determined with Atomic Absorption spectrophotometer (AAS). The mean levels range of Cd, Cr and Pb were 3.1μg/g to 2.2 μg/g, 2.5 μg/g, to 5.8 μg/g, 2.8 μg/g, to 5.0 μg/g for dry seasons and 2.0 μg/g to 2.9 μg/g, 2.2 μg/g to 4.2 μg/g , 2.2 μg/g to 4.3 μg/g for monsoon seasons. The analytical results indicated that in both monsoon and dry season’s metals concentrations were above the literature levels.
