Abstract

Modernism only criticized the social crisis at that time and did not deny the essential reality of human at all. Modernism appeared in the West at the late modern era and in Vietnam at its early modern era. Post-modernism is comprised of multiple anti-realism trends, and it is the result from the negation of the negation. Modernism is a school of Visual art. The modern art’s characteristic is the negation of illusion, which uses machine effects and carries a high sense of emotiveness and abstractness, suspects the free will in art and hopes to break the separation between art and life. Post-modernism is a term used for describing post-modern movements in art which generated trends in art and culture as well as socio-cultural movements in general after post-modern era. Post-modern idea typically emphasizes trend of formation, idealism, relativism, pluralism, diversity and scepticism in the approach to knowledge and intelligence. It could be considered a relatively “metaphysical” concept.
